B’nai Mitzvah
Celebrate your child’s entrance into adolescence with a meaningful, personalized ritual while becoming part of a Jewish community.
Karov’s B’nai Mitzvah program combines the best of one-on-one learning with a rabbi and an individualized ceremony with developing a sense of belonging to something larger than ones self.
Explore Judaism and Learn Hebrew
Students begin roughly a year before their B’nai Mitzvah date meeting individually with Rabbi Amanda.
In weekly 30 minute meetings held on Zoom or in Centennial, students learn to read Hebrew, explore Judaism and plan their dream ceremony.
Students will engage in Jewish learning of their choice:
Reading from the Torah and writing a D’var Torah (sharing their thoughts on the Torah reading).
Doing an original research project.
A different idea proposed by the student- creativity is encouraged!
Become Part of a Community
All B’nai Mitzvah families are invited for a communal Shabbat dinner to build community during this important life moment.
The following experiential gatherings foster friendship between B’nai Mitzvah students:
Challah baking and yad assembly
Mezuzah making
Glass blowing an original kiddush cup
Families are encouraged to invite one another to their celebrations.
Students have the opportunity to take on volunteer roles within Karov as they embrace becoming full members of the Jewish community.
The Karov Shabbat following the student’s ceremony, they are invited to lead Kiddush and celebrate their B’nai Mitzvah with the wider Karov community.
A Ceremony as Unique as each Student
Each student will lead the B’nai Mitzvah ceremony that they have crafted over the previous year (with the enthusiastic assistance of Rabbi Amanda).
Full rehearsal the week of the B’nai Mitzvah so the student and parent(s) feel fully prepared and as little stress as possible on the day of the ceremony.
Ceremony location is selected by each family- Rabbi Amanda is happy to give ideas on venues that have worked well in the past.
All guests will receive the custom siddur (prayer book) created by the student so that they can fully participate in the ceremony.

Student Testimonial
Preparing for my Bat Mitzvah with Rabbi Amanda was one of the greatest blessings of my life. Her guidance gave me confidence when I doubted myself, encouraged me through every challenge, strengthened my faith, helped me build a healthy relationship with God, and taught me the deeper meaning behind everything I was learning. Because of her patience, wisdom, and unwavering support, my faith has grown stronger, and I have built a deeper connection to Judaism that will stay with me far beyond my Bat Mitzvah day.
She didn't just prepare me for a ceremony she helped shape the woman I am becoming. Her kindness, belief in me, and dedication have left a mark on my heart that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. She helped me create a Bat Mitzvah that truly belonged to me. When I felt uninspired, she gave me endless reasons to be inspired. When I needed support, she gave me all she could. When I overthought everything, she patiently talked me through it again and again until I found peace.
She gave me more than a beautiful Bat Mitzvah she gave me an experience that was loving, personal, and beyond anything I could have dreamed. What I'll remember most is that, for an entire year leading up to my Bat Mitzvah, she made us laugh, gave us her complete attention, and never made us feel like our questions were too small. No matter how busy she was, she made us feel like we mattered. She was patient, compassionate, and always willing to spend extra time helping us understand, even if it meant delaying her own schedule.
Having Rabbi Amanda as my mentor has been one of the greatest gifts God could have given me. Her impact on my life extends far beyond my Bat Mitzvah, and I know the lessons she taught me will stay with me for years to come. Thank you, Rabbi Amanda, for believing in me, inspiring me, and helping me become the person I am today. I will always be grateful.
